Gabon is located on the Western side of Central Africa, just North of the Republic of Congo, and right on the Equator. In size, it is comparable to the state of Colorado. The climate there is tropical, humid and hot.
The population numbers about 1.5 million people, and 80% of them live in poverty. Of the adults, 8% have contracted HIV.
The people are called Gabonese, and they speak any of six languages: French, Fang, Myene, Nzebi, Bapounou or Bandjabi.
